Using Huuru
A new shot goes into Huuru’s own library. Tap the thumbnail beside the shutter to find it.
Getting started
Huuru is the default look. On first launch, you can also choose Pimiö or Hopea, then tap Open camera. Huuru asks for camera access at that point. You can also choose Import RAW and edit an existing iPhone DNG without camera access.
Find the guide in Camera settings → A short guide. Show hints again replays the introduction and the hints beside the tools.
Will my iPhone shoot RAW in Huuru?
You need iOS 26 or later and a rear camera that can shoot RAW. Huuru uses Apple ProRAW when the camera offers it. Otherwise it uses Bayer RAW if available. If a lens can’t capture RAW, Huuru tells you.
Lenses, zoom settings and manual focus depend on the iPhone. Some zoom settings crop the frame digitally. You can return to the full image captured for that shot and change your chosen crop.
How do I open a RAW file?
- In Huuru, open Photos → Import and choose From Photos or From Files.
- Select one original iPhone DNG. Both RAW and Apple ProRAW are supported.
- The photo opens uncropped with a neutral look. Tap Save to add it to Huuru, or cancel to discard the import.
An iCloud original may need to download first. Huuru can’t import JPEGs, HEIF images or RAW files from other cameras. Your source file stays where it is.
If you see “already imported,” look in Huuru’s library and in Recently Deleted.
Which file does Huuru use for edits?
When you shoot in Huuru, the camera saves a RAW original and a neutral JPEG. Looks and later edits start from that JPEG. You can share the original RAW separately from the photo menu.
An imported iPhone DNG is developed from its original RAW. Exposure and white balance apply before the look, including when you reopen the photo. Import supports original iPhone RAW and Apple ProRAW DNG files, not JPEG, HEIF or other cameras' RAW files.
How do I check and save an edit?
Tap the photograph to hide the editor controls. Pinch or double-tap to zoom, then drag to inspect a detail. Tap once to bring the controls back. This inspection zoom leaves the crop alone. When choosing a blur focus point or placing geometry guides, finish that step first.
Save in the editor keeps the edit in Huuru. To copy the finished JPEG to Apple Photos, return to the photo viewer and tap Save there. Share opens the system share sheet. Cancel asks before discarding changes; the camera button discards unsaved changes immediately and opens the camera.
How do I soften the foreground or background?
Open Edit → Blur and wait for the depth estimate. Choose Pick focus in photo. The picker shows the whole uncropped photo, with its controls below the image. Tap what should stay sharp, then choose Done to use that focus point or Cancel to leave it unchanged. Your crop and perspective adjustments stay intact.
Adjust Background blur and Foreground blur. Focus width changes how much stays sharp; Focus depth moves the sharp plane.
Depth is estimated from the photograph on your iPhone. It is not a measured distance, and fine edges such as hair or leaves can need a gentler setting. Hide the controls and zoom in to check the result. If depth analysis fails, tap Try again or continue with the other editing tools.
How do I straighten a building?
Open Crop → Geometry. Auto looks for reliable vertical edges and proposes a correction. If it cannot find them, the edit stays unchanged and Huuru suggests Guided.
In Guided, drag both ends of one line onto an edge that should be vertical. One line straightens the image by rotating it. Tap Second line and place it on another vertical edge to correct perspective as well. Choose Apply guides, then check the crop before saving. You can also adjust perspective manually. The original stays unchanged.
How do the 24, 28 and 35mm shortcuts work?
If your main camera offers the 24mm shortcut, tap its active button again to cycle through 24, 28 and 35mm equivalent framing. From another camera, the first tap returns to your last main-camera framing. Pinch the viewfinder for continuous zoom.
The 28 and 35mm shortcuts crop the main-camera image digitally. They are not separate optical lenses. The original keeps the camera's full captured image, including the area outside your chosen crop, so you can reframe later. These shortcuts appear only on supported main cameras; other devices keep the 1× button. Available lenses, zoom settings and manual focus depend on the iPhone.
How do I check focus and exposure?
Tap the viewfinder to set focus and exposure at that point. The button below the side slider switches between exposure and manual focus. When you focus manually, the center of the image is magnified.
Open Shooting aids at the top for grid lines, a level, highlight warnings and a histogram. The warnings and histogram show exposure in the preview before the look. They can’t tell you whether the RAW has clipped. The guides don’t appear in the photo.
How do I save to Apple Photos?
Open the shot in Huuru’s Photos library and tap Save. This copies the finished JPEG to Apple Photos. To share the RAW, use the photo’s menu.
To do this for every new shot, turn on Automatically save new photos in Camera settings under Photos library. It’s off by default. Save older shots and later edits individually.
Why does Huuru need permission to use Photos?
To export a JPEG, allow Huuru to add photos in iPhone Settings. Importing a RAW is a separate permission. For some photos, the system picker can supply the original directly.
If Huuru asks to read the original and you use limited access, include that photo in your selection. You can also use Import → From Files if you have the DNG in Files.
How do I move my archive to another iPhone?
- Open Camera settings → Archive backup.
- Choose Export backup to Files. Finish saving the
.pimioarchivefile somewhere you can reach from the other iPhone. - On the other iPhone, choose Restore from backup and select the file.
A backup includes originals, neutral and finished images, edits and custom looks. Restore checks each file and adds missing items. If two versions conflict, Huuru keeps the existing one and tells you what it skipped. Keep the app open and allow enough free space on the phone.
Huuru doesn’t encrypt the backup. If you save it to a cloud drive, check there that the upload has finished. Read about sharing and backup privacy.
How do I get a deleted photo back?
Open Photos → Recently Deleted. Tap Restore for one photo or Restore all for the whole folder. The originals and edits stay there until you restore them. Huuru has no automatic expiry period.
Deleting Huuru from your phone removes the archive, including Recently Deleted. If you’ve already deleted the app, look for a .pimioarchive file in Files or a device backup. Check Apple Photos for JPEGs you saved there. The developer has no copy of your library.
